Advanced
Microscopy Imaging Microscopy
a key tool for research scientists has revolutionalized
the understanding of cells/tissues, their sub cellular
compartments, and helps to visualize the localization of
the proteins/genes of interest and relate them to their
proposed function. This facility at CCMB is equipped
with latest and state-of-the-art Microscopes like, TIRF,
APOTOME, Advanced Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope (CLSM)
Systems, Multiphoton Confocal Microscope System and a
Live Cell Confocal System for different applications in
biology.
Confocal
Laser scanning microscopy -This technique enables
visualization deep within both living and fixed cells
and tissues and affords the ability to collect sharply
defined optical sections from which three-dimensional
renderings can be created.
Multiphoton Confocal Microscope - has IR-laser
that allows greater penetration with minimal
photobleaching. Is used for localization of proteins and
genes of interest, in relatively thicker specimens
Live Cell Laser Scan Confocal Microscopy System -
maintains samples at temperatures ranging from ambient
to 40C with CO2 supply and is used for scanning at high
speed for observing fast and dynamic processes.
APOTOME - works on structured illumination
principle to get high quality images both in DIC and
fluorescence.
TIRF - Total Internal Reflection Fluorescence
Microscopy System - highly advanced and integrated
modular system capable of observing specimens at the
depth of 200nm with high resolution.
The facility also has Live cell-imaging system,
Universal research microscope and Fluorescence Stereo
Microscope with 3D system. |
