Vijay obtained his MSc and PhD (Molecular Biology and Biotechnology) from Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi, India. He joined CCMB in 1998.
Research & Interests: My current areas of research are - To isolate and characterize Tissue specific and Conditional promoters from Arabidopsis in order to facilitate Crop improvement through Biotechnological means.
- To explore if Auxin plays a role in the early development of female gametophyte in Arabidopsis.

Dr. Sebastien Andreuzza

Sebastien Andreuzza did his PhD in Dr. Frederic Berger's Lab at Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory, Singapore, where he worked on a new maternal gametophytic mutant of Arabidopsis affecting endosperm development.
Research & Interests: While male and female meiosis are expected to use the same mechanisms and core components, some meiotic genes act in a sex-specific manner. A male-sterile meiotic mutant has been isolated in the lab. Using cytological and biochemical approaches, my project aims at proposing a function for this gene and at understanding this sex-specific activity. In complement to this project, I have developed protocols enabling us to do immunostaining of Arabidopsis meiocytes, which will be particularly useful to study meiotic mutants.
